POST Why the "insurgents" are not

Almost two years and a half have passed since Iraq was liberated from Saddam Hussein's rule. Step by step, the country is becoming a democracy, no matter how hard some European circles tend to emphasize the "illegal war" has brought nothing but havoc to the streets of Baghdad and around the country.

Those wrongfully called "insurgents" that kill inocents in Iraq have recently been defeated in Tall Afar, in a strike performed by the the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, lead by Colonel HR MacMaster. He's a man who has written books about Iraq, a man that is also a Major and PhD in History, and a man that says that the town was used to bring people from across the border and strike all over Northern Iraq.

Those are not insurgents, not at all. Those are nothing but terrorists, and the sooner the media start calling them by what they are, the better. For some analysts, the "insurgents" are relatively small, around 4% of the total enemy forces, but that doesn't mean they have little power in Iraq.

The common link in all Al-Qaeda based cells appears to be only one thing: fanatism. Not to Ben Laden or to "the cause", as there's none and Mr. Ben Laden is probably dead in Pakistan. It's sicker than that. It's to kill in the name of God,

We saw it in NY, we saw it in Madrid, and in London or Bali. The "war" is not only fought in Iraq, but also at home, since immigration policies, specially in Europe, has permitted recruitment around the globe.

Important or not. In number or not, they carry something deadlier than weapons. They carry a good amount of sick ideas that, hopefully, will be forgotten by with a new, democratic Iraq. But the challenge goes way beyond that as the whole muslim world is subject to these men's influence.

And as it happened in Gaza, poverty is their best way of finding new suicide bombers...
